Good chance you’ve never (a.) heard of a former basketball player from Louisiana-Lafayette by the name of Anthony Johnson, and (b.) watched an Air Asia ASEAN Basketball League brawl. Before broadband these Asian basketball league fights would be underground on VHS tapes. Today we get to seen Johnson yesterday drilling this Asian over a hard foul in a heated game between the Air Asia Patriots & the San Miguel Beermen.

Seriously, that’s the teams nickname.

Posted: Yesterday

Premise of Video: (via media on the ground) The San Miguel Beermen once again proved that they can go toe-to-toe against their fellow countrymen, inflicting just the second loss on the league-leading AirAsia Philippine Patriots, courtesy of a 68-66 victory, breaking the Patriots’ six-game winning run in the Asean Basketball League, Sunday at the Arena in San Juan.
But the game was marred by an altercation between Patriots import Anthony Johnson and the Beermen’s Aris Dimaunahan, when the latter was called for unsportsmanlike conduct on Johnson with 2:17 left in the game and the Patriots up, 48-46.

Climax of Video: Johnson gets fouled and loses his sh*t.

Conclusion: Can kinda see why Johnson would be angry. He’s averaging 23ppg this season and was struggling with his shot, going 5-of-14 before the massive brawl. One other item, when did the Air Asia league get English-speaking announcers? Those guys should be calling March Madness games.
