I have seen some horrible officiating, but this one really takes the cake. As you can see from the video, Jets forward Mark Scheifele actually trips himself and the ref assesses Stephen Gionta a two minute minor for tripping. I do expect the NHL officials to do a better job.

It’s supposed to be a tough gig being a little-used back-up goalie in the National Hockey League.
A guy takes a pile of shots in the pre-game warmup and then dons a ball hat before playing doorman for his teammates while they come off the ice all night.
But Al Montoya is good with all that. And the veteran netminder also has a very keen understanding of his role as Ondrej Pavelec’s...

The Winnipeg Jets took to the ice tonight not to win a game but more or less to change the way they played the game of hockey. Â The last three games had been an example of passive, reactive hockey where the play for the Jets opposition was far from difficult. Â Tonight that all changed at the MTS Centre as the Jets hosted the slumping Devils.
Claude Noel is shuffling his lineup in an effort to get the Winnipeg Jets back in the win column.
Based on Sunday’s game-day skate in advance of a matchup with the New Jersey Devils at MTS Centre (7 p.m. TSN-Jets/TSN 1290) the Jets coach will continue with some line juggling that began late in Friday’s 4-1 loss to the Dallas Stars moving Evander Kane up to the top unit with...
Shut up and play.
Those were the words a frustrated Olli Jokinen used when talking about the early-season struggles the Winnipeg Jets have endured during a three-game losing streak that saw them drop to 2-3 going into Sunday’s game with the New Jersey Devils.
On Saturday afternoon during a small media scrum Jokinen vented about the way the Jets are playing.
“The only thing...
Nobody knows for sure where the inspiration came from but the Winnipeg Jets looked like a far hungrier team on Sunday night.
Whether it was the persistence of the penalty killers that had another perfect night the steady goaltending of backup Al Montoya the beyond-his-years maturity of rookie defenceman Jacob Trouba or the dogged determination of winger Evander Kane the Jets brought...
Confusion still rules the day for Winnipeg Jets fans as they head into the second stretch of the first 10 games. Â The, team if you are unaware, lost the first stretch of 5 games. Â
If you weren't aware Claude Noel exclaimed this past week that team has broken the season down to 16 x 5 game sections plus the extra 2 games to make 82 in total. Â He then went on to explain...
Al Montoya made 24 saves for his fourth NHL shutout and Evander Kane scored twice in the Winnipeg Jets' 3-0 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Sunday night.
The Jets snapped a three-game losing streak to improve to 3-3-0.
Kane opened the scoring early in the second period, carrying the puck the length of the ice and banking it off Devils defenseman Andy Greene's leg...

LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell River Hawks are able to rebound from a shocking loss on Friday night against Sacred Heart to beat their in-state rival Massachusetts Minutemen on Saturday night, 5-2. Saturday night’s victory for the River Hawks marks the first win for goaltender...
The Winnipeg Jets probably wish that Tyler Seguin’s alarm clock didn’t go off on Friday morning.
Not being in the lineup might have been the only way to stop the talented Dallas Stars centre on this night as Seguin scored twice and added two assists for the first four-point game of his young career to lead the visitors to a 4-1 victory over the Jets on Friday night.
There's no denying the talent of 22-year-old winger Evander Kane, who's trying to take the next step and become a leader for the Winnipeg Jets.
He responded with a solid performance after a promotion to the top line, and he'll look to stay hot Tuesday night when the Jets host the Montreal Canadiens.
Kane showed plenty of fire in Winnipeg's 5-3 win over Los Angeles...
