A witness to the aftermath of the Josh Brent-Jerry Brown tragic car crash has some conflicting reports about Brent’s actions after the accident. Brent flipped his car early on Saturday morning while driving drunk in an accident that killed Brown. Brent was charged with intoxication manslaughter. Stacee McWilliams spoke to the Dallas Morning News and says she pulled up the scene of the accident after Brent had got out of the car safely and saw a small flame coming from the engine of his crashed vehicle. After making sure that someone had called the police and that Brent was okay, she heard Brown screaming from the car for someone to help him. McWilliams says she had to convince Brent multiple times to pull his teammate from the wreckage. Brent was telling her, “He won’t get out of the car.” McWilliams says that after Brent finally did pull Brown from the car, he did not stick around to stay with his teammate, who was then lying in the middle of the street. McWilliams assured that she did not know who Brown was prior to the accident, but that Brent was not a hero in the aftermath of the crash. “I want people to understand that Josh Brent is not a hero,” said McWilliams. “I keep hearing reports of how he was there to pull his friend from the fire. But he had to be coerced and pushed and begged and pleaded to get his friend out of the fire. And when he pulled him out, he just left him in the street. He didn’t tell him, ‘Hang in there, help is on the way,’ nothing. He just left him there. I want the magnitude of that to be understood.” You can watch McWilliams’ entire description of the accident here.
