Barry Chin / Boston Globe After hitting rock bottom last year, the Boston Red Sox climbed their way all the way back on top to clinch their third championship in the past decade. One thing's for sure...tomorrow will be the least productive day across Boston offices. World championships, costumes, and candy? Who can concentrate? Entering tonight, confidence around this team was soaring. Some media said not to look ahead and that the Cardinals can easily win and shift the momentum in their direction. Yes, the Cardinals were a great team. But this Red Sox team was simply on a mission to win. Red Sox Nation could feel it, but more importantly, the team felt it...and boy did they deliever. When Shane Victorino cleared the bases with a wal-ball double in the 3rd inning, everyone knew that was it. There really was no looking back, as the Sox took at 3-0 lead. Stephen Drew made it 4-0 in the 4th inning with a blast to the bullpen, starting a massive attack to make it 6-0. What a relief to see Drew finally come through. What better poster boy to represent the 2013 season than John Lackey? He was apart of the poison in the 2011-2012 teams. He was fat, lazy, and didn't seem to care. But a light went off and he got it. Just like the rest of this team, he committed himself and turned it around. Lackey started off a little shaky tonight, but lucked out with some hard-hit outs. He settled down and cruised until the 7th inning, where he talked his way into staying in the game. I could rant here, but I won't. I was very upset when watching Lackey jaw to Farrell and talk his way out of the hook. But...I just can't. They're champs. Is this better than the 2004 World Series victory? I mean, think about it guys. That 86-year-old drought was going to come to an end eventually. This 2013 team cleaned house from a dreadful 2012 season, being one of the worst in the league, and literally recovered and redeemed themselves. No more drama queens. No more laziness. No more video games. No more fried chicken. No more beer (well, at least during games). Just, Boston Strong. Final 6-1
