WR Rankings – Week Eight Brandon Weeden reared his ugly head and although Josh Gordon was responsible for a couple of his missed targets Weeden is a scattershot at best and will not be able to maximize Gordon’s considerable talents on a consistent basis. Gordon remains a top-20 fantasy play going forward but perhaps anointing him a borderline WR1 despite the loss of Hoyer was a bit premature. The Browns have a tough matchup against the Chiefs in week eight and will need to get Gordon the ball to have any success but any way you look at it that means depending on Brandon Weeden against the undefeated Chiefs. We currently have Gordon as our 16th ranked receiver for week eight. A week after looking unstoppable the Chargers weak pass defense stopped him and forced Henne to look elsewhere. Justin Blackmon finished week seven with only 58 yards while watching Mike Brown go off for 120 yards while Cecil Shorts returned to the Jaguars to command a team high 13 targets and 80 receiving yards. Blackmon still got nine targets on the night and remains a top 20 play going forward. Blackmon is our number 15 ranked receiver this week versus the 49er defense that has given up big games to most of the talented receivers it has faced this season. Terrence Williams appears to have taken over the number two job in Dallas and looks to be a upside WR3 the rest of the way. We currently have him as our 33rd ranked receiver for week eight and he is trending upward. Percy Harvin is back at practice and may play this Monday and thus we have him pegged as our number 22 overall receiver. Harvin may be limited but expect Wilson and Carroll to make a point of getting Harvin involved early to open up the run game for Marshawn Lynch. The Seahawks are not suddenly going to morph into a passing team overnight but Harvin should see enough targets per game to make good on his WR2 upside.
