(Photo by Harry How/Getty Images) New York Yankees 2 — Los Angeles Dodgers 3   The Yankees fall in walk-off fashion in tonight’s 3-2 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Andy Pettitte started the game with some hard hit pitches. After getting the first out, Yasiel Puig hit a booming double off the center field wall. Adrian Gonzalez’s fly out to right field advanced Puig to third base. Hanley Ramirez hit a laser to center field and the Dodgers were ahead by one. In the second inning, Juan Uribe got a hold of an 0-2 breaking ball and put it in the second deck in left field. Lyle Overbay did put the Yankees on the board in the second inning though. On the second pitch of the inning, Overbay hit a home run just out of the reach of rightfielder Puig. But the Yankees would be trailing after the Uribe home run. But Andy Pettitte settled down, with some help from the defense too. In the third inning, Hanley Ramirez hit a double to right center field. With two outs, A.J. Ellis hit a single to right field where Ichiro defended. The 39-year-old Ichiro would field the ground ball in front of him and deliver a perfect throw home, where Chris Stewart prevented Hanley Ramirez from scoring. After the rough start, Pettitte would allow two hits over the rest of his start. In seven innings, Andy Pettitte allowed two runs on eight hits while striking out three. In the fourth inning, the Yankees tied the game. Alfonso Soriano started the inning with a double. He advanced on a wild pitch and Overbay productively grounded out to bring in the run. Overbay supplied the offense for the Yankees. After Soriano’s double, the Yankees had one hit in their next 18 at-bats. In the eighth inning, David Robertson used nine pitches to get through Yasiel Puig, Adrian Gonzalez and Hanley Ramirez. Nine pitches to get three of the hottest bats. Impressive. For the ninth inning, the Yankees turned to Shawn Kelley. After getting the first out, Andre Ethier singled to left field. Juan Uribe struck out chasing a high fastball and Mark Ellis was next. During Ellis’ at-bat, Andre Ethier stole second base. Chris Stewart’s throw bounced once to Cano and the Yankees second baseman could not get the ball and the tag. On a slider down and away, Mark Ellis hit a single in front of Brett Gardner and the Dodgers were walking off winners. The pitching was great but the offense continues to struggle for the Yankees. Tonight was the first time that Andy Pettitte has gone seven innings since June. It’s bad to lose but it is worse when all of the teams in their division win too.   Win – Kenley Jansen (4-3) Loss – Shawn Kelley (3-1)   Notables Yankees *Lyle Overbay – 1 for 4, R, Solo Home Run (12) in the 2nd, 2 RBI (45) *Alfonso Soriano – 1 for 4, R, 2B Dodgers *Mark Ellis – 2 for 4, Game-winning Single, RBI (34) *Juan Uribe – 1 for 4, R, Solo Home Run (6) in the 2nd, RBI (31)   Current Yankees Record: 55-51   Get your Yankees Tickets from our friends at TiqIQ.
