Yankees fans, you are getting closer to seeing the product of that Jesus Montero trade that seems like it happened ages ago.  Michael Pineda is nearing a return, and could make his debut soon.  He completed a successful rehab outing yesterday, and he will continue to pitch in the minors to prove he is healthy enough for a mid-season call-up. According to Chris Girandola of MLB.com, Pineda made a rehab start for Lakeland yesterday after waiting out a rain delay.  He pitched 4 1/3 innings.  He allowed one runs on two hits and displayed all of his pitches.  Pineda did not seem to have any trouble with command or with feeling comfortable on the mound.  That's a great sign for his progression through these rehab starts. "The fastball is feeling normal, feeling good," said Pineda, who is recovering from a torn labrum in his right shoulder. "I'm excited. My shoulder is feeling good. The mechanics are a little better. Good control on the fastballs. Not bad for my first time." Pineda came to the Yankees in exchange for Jesus Montero back during the 2011-12 offseason.  He suffered a shoulder injury (or a shoulder injury was discovered) shortly after the trade, and Pineda missed the entire 2012 season.  There was concern as he battled through continued shoulder problems, that Pineda would miss all of this season as well.  Fortunately, it looks like he is on pace to make his Yankees debut soon. Blogging for Susie With the Mariners, Pineda showed promise.  He pitched in one season, 2011.  In total, Pineda made 28 starts and posted a 3.74 ERA.  The Yankees were excited to see what he could do going forward, but they have yet to see him in action against Major League hitters since the trade.  There is no exact return date, but it would seem Pineda should be back on the 25-man roster within a couple weeks. Jeter back on the field

Derek Jeter was scheduled to meet with his surgeon this week in Charlotte, NC as part of a follow up examination on his injured ankle. Yankees Lose But, Before The Game, Cano Wins

With CC Sabathia once again pitching poorly in Oakland and the Athletics continuing their hot streak at home, last night's Yankee loss was as predictable as it was painful.  Something that was not predictable was the announcement before the game that Robinson Cano had been named AL captain of this year's Home Run Derby.I would have thought that last year's horrible experience...

Yankees on the rise: Is it juju, Tex or tomato cans?

We are 6-1 - (an .857, winning pct., baby!) - since last week's International Juju Intervention, in which millions of fans - (maybe billions; we're beasts in China) - charged their TVs, bombarding the team with subatomic Rizzutonic particles, the Higgs bosons of baseball. But rather than taking credit, let's consider other possible reasons behind the Yankee resurgence...

All-Star Captains Wright & Cano Show Off Hats: Hit or Miss?

The MLB All-Star Game captains, Robinson Cano and David Wright show off their new garb for the game at Citi-Field. The uniforms are pretty generic for an All-Star game, but those hats could be the worst in ASG history. With all the old school homage Citi throws in your face, they could’ve just done flat out better. Leave it up to the mets to blow it. We’re sure they’ll still...
