The first road trip of the year is always a concern. When you're playing 15 freshmen, the first away game is enough to give a coach an ulcer. Yet Ohio State coach Urban Meyer professes to not be worried how his first-year players will handle their first sojourn behind enemy lines when the 14th-ranked Buckeyes travel to take on No. 20 Michigan State on Saturday. With 12 freshmen listed on the two-deep, no wonder Meyer says he's got the youngest team in America. Youth means inexperience, so the coaching staff and the Buckeyes' veterans will need to reassure their younger players before and during the critical showdown between the Big Ten's highest ranked teams at hostile Spartan Stadium.

Ohio State may cut back on MAC foes in future

Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith says the move to a new four-team FBS playoff system may mean not scheduling so many games against Mid-American Conference teams. The Buckeyes have played MAC teams almost annually since ending a 58-year span without meeting an Ohio or MAC team in 1992. Ohio State has played MAC teams 20 times since then, sometimes two in the same season. ...

Ohio State will cut back on MAC foes

The days when Ohio State regularly entertained a Mid-American Conference school may be coming to an end because of the new FBS playoff system. Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith said the four-team FBS playoff may mean fewer games against MAC teams. ''We're changing our philosophy because we're obviously going to move into a playoff structure that I don'...

Ohio State weaning itself off MAC teams?

Ohio State may have fewer MAC schools to kick around on future schedules. The coming switchover from the BCS to a playoff system is the main cuprit for the Buckeyes wanting to wean itself off of schools from the non-BCS conference. ''We're changing our philosophy because we're obviously going to move into a playoff structure that I don't think all of us...

Ohio State Football fans, USFL Football coming to Columbus Ohio

There is little doubt about the passion Columbus, Ohio residents have for football. “The” Ohio State University churns out multiple players each year which play on the big stage of the NFL on Sunday afternoons. Now, residents in Columbus can root for a professional football team, while owning a portion of the team as well in the coming year. The USFL is making a comeback. The...

The Argument – Braxton’s Buckeyes

“This team is awful.” “How can we be this bad??” “Urban Meyer is overrated and it’s showing. It’s UAB!” “Braxton Miller needs to run it 15+ times per game at minimum!” Outside of a wide range of expletives, all of those comments littered my twitter feed and text messages almost verbatim (feel free to identify yourself).  I cannot act like I am above any of these...

OSU President E. Gordon Gee Ball So Hard

It's no secret to any of our frequent readers that I'm an Ohio State fan. However, I've also made it very clear that I'm not a fan of the school's president, E. Gordon Gee. In a recent report by Laura A. Bischoff from the Dayton Daily News, it was revealed that Gee has expensed millions to the school since 2007 to throw parties, travel and woo prospective...

Q&A: Previewing the Buckeyes with TheOzone

With the Buckeyes coming to East Lansing this Saturday, it is time to take a look into what Ohio State brings to the table this year under new coach Urban Meyer. Last year the Spartans managed to bottle up Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller. Finding a way to stop him this year could be a key for MSU. (Toledo Blade Photo) Quarterback Braxton Miller has drawn a lot of early praise...
