Tonight, from the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., undefeated Philadelphia fighter Danny Garcia will defend his title in a rematch against Erik Morales for the WBC/WBA junior welterweight Title. The last time that Garcia fought Morales was in March from Houston.  When Garcia fought Morales, Garcia dropped Morales in the 11th round and won a clear unanimous decision to claim a vacant junior welterweight title.  A lot of people are saying this is the final shot for Eric Morales. This is the first fight to take place in Brooklyn since August 5th, 1931, when light heavyweight champion Maxie Rosenbloom outpointed Jimmy Slattery over 15 rounds to retain the title at Ebbets Field. Danny Garcia said the following, “I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to open Barclays Center in Brooklyn.  They haven’t had world championship boxing in Brooklyn for more than 80 years, and it’s going to be a really special night for me and the rest of the fighters on the show.” There is a total for 4 Title fights that will be on the Showtime card at the Barclays Center and they are the following: Main Event: • Junior welterweights: Danny Garcia (24-0, 15 KOs) vs. Erik Morales (52-8, 36 KOs), 12 rounds for Garcia WBC/WBA junior welterweight Title Co Main Event: Welterweights: Paulie Malignaggi (31-4, 7 KOs) vs. Pablo Cesar Cano (25-1-1, 19 KOs), 12 rounds, for Malignaggi’s WBA welterweight title Undercard: Middleweights: Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam (27-0, 17 KOs) vs. “Kid Chocolate” Peter Quillin (27-0, 20 KOs), 12 rounds, for N’Jikam’s WBO middleweight title • Welterweights: Randall Bailey vs. Devon Alexander, 12 rounds, for Bailey’s IBF welterweight title The Fights starts at 8 PM only on SHOWTIME Photo: boxnews.com.ua
