Ladies and gentlemen, it looks like we may have to set up a fight date for Shaq and Jason Whitlock.

Matters between the two got started on NBA opening night Tuesday when Whitlock, a columnist for FOXSports.com, said Shaq was out of shape. The former All-NBA center and current TNT NBA analyst responded by challenging Whitlock to a fight.

Not only did Whitlock not back down, but he wrote a column in response touting his credentials as a street fighter and former football player.

Shaq wasn’t about to back down from his initial challenge, and Whitlock isn’t tapping out, either.

Shaq said on “Inside the NBA” Thursday that he wanted to fight Whitlock next week. The Big Fella agreed to fight in six months after Whitlock said he wanted that much time to train for the bout.

Things are so far along that Shaq received an offer from former heavyweight champion boxer Lennox Lewis to train, much to Whitlock’s disappointment:

That’s okay — Whitlock believes he can get Floyd Mayweather Jr. in his corner:

The NBA All-Star Game will be February 17 in Houston. That would only allow the men four and a half months to train. As long as Whitlock finds that acceptable, they should be able to set up the fight. Heck, it could be part of the weekend entertainment.

  • Just goes to show you what we've known all along...Whitlock is a moron. If it ever comes to fruition I hope Shaq pummels this dumb arse so bad that he'll have to retire from writing any more sports articles.
  • It will be a lumpy 15 minutes of fame for Whitlock, Shaq could hibernate 6 mths and then have this guy as a snack before breakfast... just dumb
  • I think it is Wishfull thinking that Whitlock will figure out how to use the complicated machine he has to get out of his apartment..In Just 6 months..You know..The Door Knob !!!
  • jason's withlock mouth has finally written a check his ass won't be able to cash. Give him a good scientific ass whooping SHAQ.
  • I bet Whitlock is so out of shape he doesn't even take his shirt off for the fight.
  • jason's withlock mouth has finally written a check his ass won't be able to cash. Give him a good scienctific ass whooping SHAQ.
  • jason's withlock mouth has finally written a check his butt won't be able to cash. Give him a good scienctific butt whooping SHAQ.
  • Very interesting scenerio. When do we get to see the specs on each? Height, weght, reach, etc.
  • Six months to train! I could fight Shaq with 6 months to train! LOL!
  • I think everyone is in agreement in wanting Shaq to kick Whitlocks ass. The majority of his articles are a joke and I often wonder where he recieved his journalism training ....if at all. This guy is often criticle of athletes and for him to call Shaq out of shape and then asking for 6 months to train shows something about his character.
  • STREET FIGHTER??? SIX MONTHS TO TRAIN???? HOW DOES THAT EVEN MAKE SENSE. IM FROM THE STREETS AND I NEVER HAD TO PUT A CHALLENGE ON HOLD SO I COULD "GET READY FOR THE FIGHT". I'M NOT A BIG SHAQ FAN, BUT WHITLOCK HAS GOT TO BE THE MOST COWARDLY SREET FIGHTER I HAVE EVER, OR RATHER, NEVER HEARD OF!!!
    TRAIN??!!!??? HA
  • Wow I don't believe it, big mouth Whitlock finally bit off more than he can chew. I think he got scared when ShaQ said OK and thats why he asked for 6 months. I believe Whitlock will try to find a reason to backout and try to save face. If he's dumb enough to go thru with I've never wanted a big mouth raciest to get his more than Whitlock, GO SHAQ...
  • Jason Twitlock could not beat his way out of a wet paper bag. That fat tub of goo would take a beating by my 72 year old mother. Street fighter my butt! I will wager he will find a reason to back out in the end just like chump punkweather always finds a reason to not fight Pacman. You and your writing are a joke Twitlock!
  • So, Whitlock, if Shaq is out of shape right now, why give him time to get in shape and train? If you are the monster you think you are, do it now!!
  • Cool. Now after Shaq kicks his ass, he can go after John Buck & Tim MacGarver, the 2 top WORSE broadcasters on TV!!!!!!!!!!
  • Maybe after Shaq does his thing with Whitlock he can send the rookie cards I mailed to him to sign over a year ago back.
  • I have to agree with what everyone is saying on this, but just think of the money this could make for all the less fortunate in the good old U.S. of A. We would get to see Shaq back in action, we would get to see see Whitlock knocked silly and some very deserving programs could benefit. Whitlock may be a street fighter, but unless he has a way to get inside and try to do some damage, Shaq will eat him alive.
  • Let me get this straight. JW calls out Shaq for being out of shape but then when Shaq says lets do it he comes back with "give me 6 months"? Does that make any sense? Do it now and donate the proceeds to the Red Cross/East Coast relief fund.
  • They broke and trying something stupid to make some cash?
  • you dumb as hell if you think shaq is any where close to bein broke.
  • ANY BET WHITLOCK WHO IS OLDER WILL USE IT AS A CRUTCH AFTER THE LOSS
  • You've got 6months to roid back up withlock - Looking forward to see you get your ass kicked.
  • OK say these 2 get together for a fight What are the rules? Are we boxing? MMA? Wrestling? Second I do not care who with or how long they train .I guarante that within the first 3 minutes it will be boring and totally unwatchable with little or no entertainment value what so ever Beware of spending your pay per view bucks on this turkey. You have been warned! Blue Whale
  • OK Iam running off at the mouth here I admit. But Well hold it at Caesers Palace in Vegas.Yes you guessed it The Geezers at Caesers. Why not its so obvious a match? Blue Whale
  • Put this fight inside the octagon instead of a ring. Shaq has trained MMA and will put Whitlock on his back for the tapout.
  • Where do I sign up? I just want to see one slow mo shot to Whitlock's mouth. You know....the one where the mouth piece and spit fly out.
  • Who really F-ing cares-Two fat asses rolling around and around
  • 6 months to get in shape for "Blubber Butt" Whitlock? Don't make me laugh!!! I hope Shaq beats down this racist so bad that we'll finally be rid of him for good. Hey Jason, maybe you could belly bump Shaq into submission. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Oh yeah I'm real excited to see two 40 somethings fight.
  • It's sad to see the level Shaq has stooped to in order to stay relevant. This is beneath O'Neal, he should just do what he's getting paid to do and stop all this BS, it makes him look petty.
