In March of 2011, Alvarez (41-0, 30KO’s) defeated England’s Matthew Hatton (43-7, 17KO’s) by unanimous decision to win the vacant WBC Super Middleweight title.  Since then, he has defended his title five times and won four of those fights by knockout.  He is already a superstar in Mexico and on his way to becoming a superstar in boxing all around the world.  He is only 22 years old and in his press conference in San Antonio, Texas, he had an estimated 14,000 fans that came out to see him.  Unlike other fighters in boxing who evade the best in their divisions, Alvarez is willing to take on the best in their prime.  And on April 20, 2013, he will be taking on undefeated middleweight champion Austin Trout (26-0,14KO’s) for his WBA belt and to defend his own WBC belt.
