Carrington wins gold in K-1 200
Lisa Carrington of New Zealand won gold in the inaugural women's 200-meter K-1 sprint at Dorney Lake on Saturday, denying Hungarian kayaker Natasa Douchev-Janics a fourth Olympic title.
Carrington, the reigning world champion, came through late to win in 44.638 seconds. Inna Osypenko-Radomska of Ukraine won silver and Douchev-Janics took bronze.

Daniele Molmenti of Italy wins men's kayak slalom
Daniele Molmenti gave himself a gold medal as a birthday present.
The Italian powered down the white water course at the London Olympics to win the men's kayak slalom Wednesday on his 28th birthday.
Molmenti finished 1.35 seconds ahead of Vavrinec Hradilek, who gave the Czech Republic its first medal of these games. Germany's Hannes Aigner, who won bronze.

Tony Estanguet of France has won the Olympic gold medal in the men's canoe slalom.
Estanguet set a winning time of 97.06 seconds to edge Sideris Tasiadis of Germany, who claimed silver in 98.09, just more than a second back.
