With the departure of Hall of Fame Coach Lute Olson from Tucson it's time to look at possible Replacements for these big shoes that need filling. My first request...Keep it in the family. From Tom Tolbert to Steve Kerr there have been great basketball minds to grace the court at McKale Center. And they all deserve a shot, but there are a few names that you should recognize that you might not realize have Arizona Ties. There are more than a few Alumni who deserve a chance to fill in for the man who shaped Arizona Basketball. Mike Dunlap may have been named, but that isn't really concrete, it could also be former US Senator....

The biggest development in the history of Wildcat sports is happening as we speak. In what can only be described as earth shattering, shaking and quaking news Arizona Basketball coach Lute Olson is expected to announce tomorrow that he will retire from coaching.
As is now being reported on ESPN and other major media outlets Lute Olson is retiring effective immediatley

That seems to be the common sentiment in the reports that I am reading following the official departure of Hall of Fame Coach Lute Olson. The reactions, though not surprising, about Lute Olson have been very mixed. Unfortunately, one of the majority opinions is that Lute Olson handled this terribly and should have just stayed retired after last seasons leave of absence. I completely...

Excitement rippled through the crowd that day in 1983. When word spread of Lute Olson's hiring by the University of Arizona you could almost hear the screeching of brakes. The red and blue train of Wildcat basketball -- at the time located in the depths of despair and little hope -- was being turned around completely.
Everyone knew Arizona's dull days may be over.
