Finally, some excitement. Gonzaga guard Demetri Goodson's life is all downhill from this point on as he his the game winning runner with 0.9 seconds left. There appears to be some controversy surrounding the ending though as WKU coach Ken McDonald was furiously signaling for timeout but was not given one, mostly due, however, to his team throwing the ball in too quickly. Somewhere, Big Red is crying into his beer.

And much to the dismay of Duke haters everywhere, the Fightin' Scheyerfaces also survived and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen, pulling passed Texas in the last minute. They will go on to play Villanova next week.

  • Gonzaga did they thing tonight..
  • yea i was there and it was fcking epic.
and i disagree about meech's life going downhill. this is only going to help his confidence grow.
  • Gonzaga did their thing as in let an inferior team stage a comeback while up 9 with a few minutes and fail to get any points for the final minutes of the game until a coast to coast runner because WKU decided to not guard him? Congratulations... that won't get you far in the tournament.
  • nah "did their thing" as in won a tough basketball game and made it to the sweet 16. don't let the 12 seed fool you, wku is a really good team that was shooting out of their minds. the zags played pretty good defense, they just made some incredible shots. and you really think that they intentionally decided not to guard meech? the way i saw it was gonzaga pushed the ball up the court, they had numbers and forced the hilltoppers make a tough decision, and GU capitalized on their mistake. game over.
  • just went back and looked at the replay for the first time cause i was driving all day back from the game. even though they didn't have numbers, goodson's speed and ability to read the defense still caught them off guard and he converted . if you can't respect the effort and skill of both teams, then i don't know what to say.
  • WKU lost because they didn't get back on defense and Goodson took advantage of that situtation and it cost the Hilltoppers plain and simple..
  • That still doesn't ignore the lack of securing a lead in the final minutes against an inferior team, no matter what you say about seeding. The fact remains that they had to make a spectacular play because they failed to have a killer instinct in the first place.
