We learned this week that Jason Taylor will miss his first game in almost a decade after having to have a pooling of blood in his calf. I was pretty irritated considering to me that sounded like a bruise. So imagine my surprise when I was watching First Take this morning and they had their Dr on to discuss the recent injuries and when they got to Taylor's calf injury he informed the world that not only could it have him out 4-6 weeks but had he waited to get it drained any longer he could have lost his leg.
Apparently the calf muscle is made up of compartments contained by a lining. And in rare cases like Taylor had the swelling expands as far as the lining will allow so blood cannot reach the muscles which results in the death of the nerves and muscle and possibly has to be removed entirely.
I wonder if he could have played with a peg leg like the chick in the picture.

Plastic Man crashes set of Dancing With The Stars
**Funny screengrabs of Jason Taylor on the painful Dancing With The Stars**
Plastic Man made his triumphant return to prime time television last night disguised in graceful casual wear compliments of the good folks at Gap. The flexible fella was able to sneak past unsuspecting members of security and thrust himself to the forefront of ABC's Dancing With the Stars, as...
His Name Is Tommy Monger
You may have noticed that our Phinphanatic Banner received a face lift today. ?Gone is the blank question mark that filled the bland silhouette of the departed Jason Taylor and in it's place is a beautiful Miami Dolphins cheerleader, the winner of the replace JT poll. ?

Wed, Mar 26: Jaguars Could Be Interested in Jason Taylor; Top 64 Wide Receivers in the NFL.
Jaguars Could Be Interested in Jason TaylorI do not know what we'd have to talk about around here if not for Jason Taylor. We are in the lull just before the NFL draft. Anyways, The Miami Herald's Armando Salguero reported in his blog yesterday that he has heard from an NFL scout and a Jaguars assist...
Jason Taylor Needs to Stop Talking
Prior to his decision to join Dancing with the Stars, I didn't have much of an opinion on Jason Taylor. He's a hell of a football player and he's stuck in Miami on the worst team in the NFL. Since Taylor started prancing around like a fruitcake, however, his attitude about football has seemed to [...
Taylor's dancing impresses judges
This is what we already knew about Jason Taylor. He's a great football player. He's Hollywood handsome. He has a gorgeous wife who is almost as pretty as he is.
CB 5: Life with Jason Taylor
This post is a lot like that TV show on MTV. The one where they say, "You think you know…but you have no idea" and in this case, you have no idea. My name is Colt Brennan. I'm a 6th round rookie QB, grew up in So Cal, played college ball in Hawaii, so I'd say I am a pretty laid back kind of guy. I wonder if they took that into consideration when they decided to issue lockers? Considering...
NFL Athlete Number 99 - Jason Taylor
Mark Gastineau may have created the sack dance, and had a few phenomenal years with the Jets. Warren Sapp is a Super Bowl champ and was a phenomenal defensive lineman. However, Sapp's fellow Dancing With The Stars competitor, Jason Taylor, is the best NFL athlete to ever wear the jersey number 99.Taylor was taken in the third round of the 1997 NFL draft by the Miami Dolphins...
Redskins DE Jason Taylor Will Play If He Can Practice
Redskins head coach Jim Zorn said that if DE Jason Taylor is able to practice Thursday and Friday, he would definitely face the Rams, with his...
I Told You So Round 2
This is week 2 of my I told you so posts. After last week when I called out all the Jason Campbell haters I got a resounding response that the Skins had yet to play anyone. Jason Campbell's 100 QB rating 4 tds and no turnovers meant nothing.
So yet again I have to say I told you so and I am almost completely convinced that Campbell is the answer at QB for the Skins. He had...
For Miami/Taylor, Image Is Everything
Get off JTs Back. Dancing is the first thing positive for the NFL and the Miami Dolphins in quite some time. So what if he misses a practice or an OTA? While the NFL discusses guys like Chris Henry, PacMan Jones, and Matt Walsh, they have done little to hype and promote something positive for a league that desperately needs it.
Tomorrow the big talk will once again be the CBA...
Contract Clause For Stupidity
Teams may decide to put something like that in their next contracts for players like Brandon Marshall and Derrick Coleman (who at least got injured in retirement).
Like many other washed up (see: Emmitt Smith) and current athletes (see: Jason Taylor), Derrick Coleman thought he could boost his publicity and make some cheddar by appearing on a reality television show. Thus, he...
Random News: JT, Carey and Crowder
No point in making 3 different posts for these stories since they really aren’t that big (well you could say the Carey on is), but I’ve seen some news stories on Jason Taylor, Vernon Carey and Channing Crowder and thought I would share them. The Crowder one is old and covered it in another post ...

Reasons to watch Calvin Pace's decision
During the 2005 offseason Jason Taylor was watching very closely when new coach Nick Saban added free agent defensive end Vonnie Holliday. Then the coach added free agent defensive end Kevin Carter. Then the coach drafted defensive end Matt Roth in the second round. At that point Taylor texted several...
Report: Wynn is Back
According to a broad cast report, Renaldo Wynn is back with the Redskins. He'll be 35 by the time the season starts so he's not the long-term answer the Redskins need on the left side of the defensive line. But he certainly can help out in a rotational role. Perhaps he and Phillip Daniels can man the right side of the D-line on running downs and then slide inside and yield to Chris...
