A huge recruiting visit for Nebraska football, plus more Cornhuskers news

There’s no question that in terms of recruiting targets for Nebraska football in the 2025 class, Chase Loftin is near the top of the Huskers’ board. At least he should be.

The 6-foot-6, 215-pound tight end from Millard South in Omaha is ranked 377th overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. But he’s ranked second in the state and his recruitment has gone national.

Loftin recently visited Texas A&M. The Aggies are gaining momentum in his recruitment and that’s why a visit by Loftin this Saturday, reported by Mike Schaefer, is huge news for Nebraska football.

This will be visit No. 8 to Nebraska football according to On3.com. Loftin has also taken four visits to Oklahoma and Kansas State. Yet, other programs such as Texas A&M, Miami, USC, and Alabama have all hosted him for visits this spring.

Nebraska football is still the leader according to the On3 prediction machine. The visit is important and if the Huskers can get him back for an official visit, that might be enough to seal the deal. It was with Carter Nelson.

Nebraska basketball expected to host Andrew Morgan for a visit

Andrew Morgan is a transfer portal target that emerged earlier this week for Nebraska basketball. He’s a 6-foot-10 forward/center from North Dakota State.

Fred Hoiberg did an in-home visit with Morgan earlier this week and it’s now being reported that Morgan will visit Nebraska basketball. There is an indication on his 247 Sports profile that he committed to Minnesota on Wednesday, but it feels like that was an error.

There is no announcement or confirmed report that I saw. It’s just an item on his profile. There was actually an expert projection for Morgan to Nebraska basketball by Robin Washut. Morgan averaged 12.9 points and five rebounds last season in 23 minutes per game. He shot 36.4 percent from deep but also turned it over twice per game which is concerning.

Morgan would essentially be a Josiah Allick replacement, but he would be a downgrade on the defensive end. He is solid on the boards, although his rebound rate has dropped in each of the past two seasons. The Huskers need size inside though and they could do a lot worse than Morgan.
