Don't look now, but all of a sudden Virginia sits in 2nd place in the ACC standings. The Cavaliers move into 2nd place came from 58-55 victory over NC State. Joe Harris led the Cavaliers with 22 points and Akil Mitchell added 14 points and 12 rebounds in the victory.
While a lot of people are pointing to NC State's 1-14 combined record after a win over Duke or UNC, this Wolfpack team was a shell of itself. CJ Leslie hadn't practiced due to being sick and didn't start, although Leslie didn't seem to show any ill effects scoring 20 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Lorenzo Brown missed a large part of the game with an ankle injury, forcing freshmen Tyler Lewis and Rodney Purvis to fill Brown's shoes. Up next for NC State is Miami on Saturday, it remains to be seen if Lorenzo Brown will be able to return for a matchup with the undefeated Hurricanes.
Clemson picked up a home win over Georgia Tech to move to 4-4 in league play. KJ McDaniels led the Tigers with 15 points in the victory.
UNC picked up a conference road win with a 82-70 victory over Boston College. The win was a good one for the Heels, but it wasn't without concern. PJ Hairston collided with Dexter Strickland late in the 1st half leaving Hairston on the ground for several minutes. Hairston ultimately was removed on a stretcher but reports are that Hairston is OK outside of a bad headache. Hairston started the game on fire and despite playing just 12 minutes, scored 14 points and was UNC's second leading scorer in the win.
Three more games tonight as Maryland travels to FSU, Duke looks for its first conference road victory at Wake Forest, and Miami hopes to remain unbeaten at Virginia Tech. Check out the Game Sim predictions, previews, highlights, links, and more below.

Gottfried's misuse of his bench could cost team
On the surface, its pretty easy to suggest the reason North Carolina State lost 58-55 at Virginia on Tuesday night was because it lost point guard Lorenzo Brown for the game with an ankle injury midway through the first half.
