Louisville sophomore forward Akoy Agau will undergo sports hernia surgery on Tuesday morning in Philadelphia, PA.
Agua posted a photo of himself in a hospital bed earlier today via his Instagram account.
“Out in Philly about to go under the knife. About to get fixed up, then waking up and getting a huge Philly cheesesteak.”
Rick Pitino confirmed the news with the Courier-Journal UofL beat writer Jeff Greer. He says he expects Agua to be out for about six weeks.
It’s unclear how and when the injury occurred. This is unfortunate for Agau, considering Coach Pitino had been very complementary of Agau throughout the offseason. He tabbed the Omaha, NE., native as one of the most improved players on the team.
Pitino says he expected a bigger role for Agau in his sophomore season as he’s matured both physically and mentally. Agau is the third Louisville player in the last decade to suffer a groin related injury that required surgery. Taquan Dean suffered from...
