Send to KindleAnthony Grant was dealt a major blow to next year’s SEC/NCAA hopes when Trevor Lacey decided to transfer in April. With virtually his entire squad returning, the Crimson Tide would have been an SEC threat and a certainty to make it to the NCAA Tournament. Lacey, the team’s second leading scorer and a key three-point man, is said to have been steered out of Tuscaloosa by his parents, though no concrete reason has been given.
Grant had recruited for improving his post game in signing 6-8, 200-lb. Shannon Hale of Christ School in Arden, N.C. and 6-9, 220-lb. power forward Jimmie Taylor, an in-state product. Hale has nice length and is good at finishing around the basket. He also is a good shot blocker that could help Alabama inside immediately on defense.

Already placed on top of the USA Today Coaches Poll, the Tide should be honored with the top billing from the Associated Press when the AP Top 25 is released and most seem...
Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron left Saturday's scrimmage after his foot was stepped on, according to the Tuscaloosa News.

Before leaving, McCarron was 13 of 21 passing for 267 yards. He threw three touchdowns and an interception.
It seems as if Barrett Jones is eligible for an award, he is going to get it. Even after he has been gone from the Crimson Tide football team, Jones has gathered in yet another honor. He was named the 2013 Capital One Division I Academic All-America of the Year on Thursday as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Alabama Coach Nick Saban has what is almost unanimously regarded as the nation’s finest football team. That squad will have its first scrimmage of fall camp this week. Saban does not expect to be satisfied.
Amsterdam – Five players scored in double figures to lead the Alabama men’s basketball team to an 85-68 victory on Saturday night against the Meppel Red Giants. It was the first of five games the Crimson Tide will play on its European Tour.
In the world of college football it's the SEC and everyone else. The conference has laid claim to the last seven BCS championships and boasts heavyweights like Alabama, Florida, and LSU among others. With the Crimson Tide being the unanimous preseason number one team, it looks like no one will wrest the BCS/national championship crown from the SEC anytime soon.
Though yet to snag an Alabama offer, there is mutual interest between the top program and one of the more versatile offensive linemen in the Midwest. He visited Tuscaloosa on Wednesday for a closer look at the Crimson Tide.
