By Wayne Bumpass – The Duke Blue Devils’ offense hasn’t looked the same since 6′ 11” senior flex forward Ryan Kelly re-aggravated a foot injury against Clemson that caused him to miss the ACC and NCAA tournaments last season. Not only has the Blue Devils had to adjust without the senior forward, but on offense the team has missed the spacing that is created by Kelly’s ability to shoot the three ball and on defense the team has missed his ability to block shots and help Mason Plumlee on the glass.
“We’re used to having certain driving lanes and certain places we know we’re going to kick to with Ryan, but it’s totally different with Josh (Hairston) and Amile (Jefferson) out there,” Curry said. “We’re still working on that, and some lanes close up quicker than others.”
Although the team has had trouble in the past two games adjusting to life without a guy who is a very big piece to Duke’s success on both offense and defense, an unsung hero is starting to emerge. 6′ 8” fre

Four Duke players among plus/minus leaders in conference play
While the ACC season is young, and Duke has played less than a quarter of its games, the Blue Devils are going through a huge transformation right now so its appropriate to point out any impressive number the players on the team are putting up right now. Duke suffered its first loss to NC State during this stretch, so I didn’t expect the numbers to be this good, but four Blue Devils...
Duke Basketball 1 of 12 teams to wear Nike “Hyper Road Elite” jerseys
According to a Nike release, Duke is one of twelve college basketball teams around the country to wear “Hyper Road Elite” jerseys this season. Last season, the Blue Devils were one of eight programs to wear the Nike “Platinum” jerseys and while many middle aged men complained about the look, the players themselves seemed to enjoy them.
They Hyper Road Elites sound pretty...
Duke’s second half spurt downs Yellow Jackets
By Josh Evans – Duke played its second game without senior captain, Ryan Kelly. The Blue Devils were hoping that this one ended a little bit differently than the first one. In the first game without senior Ryan Kelly, Duke fell to NC State. This time, things would end differently.
During the first half, Duke struggled mightily. You could tell that Duke was looking to find its identity...
Duke Morning F.I.S.T. – January 21 Edition
By Duke Of Hoops – With a program that has as much sustained success as Duke, it almost seems as if all Coach K has to do is recruit good players, put them out on the floor and get out of their way. The players on the floor make things look so easy at times, that it’s hard to remember that they’re sometimes just teenagers and are adjusting not only to the demands of high level...
Duke Morning F.I.S.T. – Beat Miami Edition
After a six day break, the longest remaining on the schedule, Duke takes the court again tonight against Miami in their second road game of the season. The last one didn’t go so well, as the Blue Devils fell to NC State in their first game without senior forward Ryan Kelly. The game against Georgia Tech last week showed that this Duke team still has a lot of work to do for it to...
Duke Morning F.I.S.T. – Back at #1
By Duke of Hoops – After losing the top ranking following their loss to NC State, the Blue Devils only fell out of the top spot for one week. Both teams ahead of them lost their games, while Duke beat Georgia Tech by a good margin. Tomorrow night comes another chance for Duke to get their first win on the road, and first ACC win on the road, as they head to Coral Gables to take...
Miami destroyed No.1 Duke by 27 points
No.1 Duke was handed the worst loss ever for the No.1 overall team team in the AP poll on Wednesday night against the University of Miami. Duke’s guards (Quinn Cook and Seth Curry) played atrocious, shooting a combined 1 for 29 from the floor. Miami went on a 25-1 run during the first half and never looked back. Is Michigan the next team to take a stab at No.1?These three consecutive...
Duke offers 2014 Power Forward Kevon Looney
With the Class of 2013 basically wrapped up, Duke has moved most of their recruiting focus on to the junior class. Tyus Jones and Jahlil Okafor remain atop the Blue Devils’ wish list but Duke will likely need to replace wings Jabari Parker and Rodney Hood after next season. That is in addition to Josh Hairston and Tyler Thornton, as well as Andre Dawkins, were he to return after...
Video: Geno Auriemma Chest Bumps Kelly Faris
After a great play by UConn Huskies women's basketball player Kelly Faris during their 79-49 win over the Duke Blue Devils, UConn head coach Geno Auriemma decided to chest bump Faris.
I think the best part was seeing the bench laughing about it after it happened.

Video: UConn Women Spank Duke, 79-49
The UConn Huskies women's basketball team has dominated the Duke Blue Devils as of late. However, the Blue Devils were the only undefeated team in women's basketball and figured to challenge the Huskies on a snowy evening in Storrs, CT.
That challenge didn't happen though.
Behind a 27-7 run to start the second half, UConn went on to beat the Blue Devils 79-49...
If I Had a Vote, College Basketball Top 25
If I Had a Vote, College Basketball Top 251. Michigan, 17-1. Most complete team with the best point guard.
2. Duke, 16-1. Losing Ryan Kelly hurts but the Blue Devils are still loaded.
3. Kansas, 16-1. I’d draft Ben McLemore no. 1 in the NBA Draft at this point.
4. Syracuse, 17-1. Doing what the Cuse do with a lottery quality point guard.
5. Indiana, 16-2. I still think the Hoosiers...
