Sai Tummala, a 6-foot-6, 215-pound standout at Brophy Prep and Salt Lake Community College, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Arizona State. He will have three years of eligibility, starting in 2013-14. Tummala is a forward who is known for exceptional shooting range. He shot 41 percent from 3-point range in his one season at Salt Lake CC, averaging 14.5 points per game and earning third-team junior college All-America honors for a team that went 29-5. He signed out of high school with Michigan and redshirted for a season before transferring to Salt Lake CC. BYU, Minnesota and Georgia were among the schools recruiting him after a strong finish to his junior college season. Tummala is one of five newcomers for ASU coach Herb Sendek next season, joining transfers Richie Edwards (Valparaiso) and Brandan Kearney (midseason, Michigan State) and incoming freshmen Chance Murray and Egor Koulechov.
