Wisconsin fans should be very familiar with the last name Marble, only this time they won’t be cursing the name. That’s because the daughter of former Iowa basketball standout Roy Marble (and sister of Roy Devyn Marble), Roichelle Marble, signed a national letter of intent to join Wisconsin’s class of 2014. The 5’7″ guard out of Des Moines will join Cayla McMorris and transfer Rosie Gambino in a three-woman class for head coach Bobbie Kelsey.  “Roichelle is a nice addition to our program and especially at the point guard position,” Kelsey said. “Her maturity, work ethic and competitiveness will take our play up tremendously.  She knows the game and grew up watching her father and brother, Devyn, excel at the highest level on the men’s side. “I have no doubt that Roichelle will make an immediate impact on the court next season for us.  She is extremely excited to come to Wisconsin and we are very happy to have her as a Badger.” Marble was previously committed to Drake, but chose not to sign with them and had made a verbal commitment to the Badgers at the end of February. She honored that commitment with a signed National Letter of Intent on Wednesday. http://archive.desmoinesregister.com/videonetwork/3246821892001/East-all-state-guard-Roichelle-Marble-picks-Wisconsin The younger Marble sibling was a three-time All-State pick by the Des Moines Register and earned first-team honors in her final two years at Des Moines East high school. She also was a 2014 McDonald’s All-American nominee. Coach Kelsey sees the combination of Marble and McMorris as two key pieces to retooling the guard play for the Badgers in the not-too-distant future. “The three new players that will join our team next season will shore up some areas that we needed to fill by losing two of our best players (Morgan Paige and Taylor Wurtz) to graduation,” said Kelsey. “We really needed to strengthen our guard play and now that we have signed two stellar guards we will be able to just that for next season. Rosie will be a welcome addition to our post line-up and will give us another strong body in the paint.” Wisconsin has not released its 2014-15 schedule yet, and will be looking to better the 10-19 (3-13 B1G) mark it put up last season.
