Zavier Turner led all scorers with 17 points as Ball State defeated NAIA in-state foe Taylor 73-53 Tuesday night.
Turner was the only Cardinal (1-1) to reach double-figure scoring. Majok Majok had six points to go along with 16 rebounds.
Kyle Stidom scored 14 points off of 7-of-15 shooting for Taylor (2-2), its only player with double-figures.
Taylor shot only 29 percent from the field in the first half, including 0-of-6 from beyond the arc, as the Cardinals ran out to a 37-20 lead at half.
Ball State doubled Taylor's rebounding, 52-26 and held the Trojans under 40 percent shooting for the game.
It was head coach James Whitford's first win at Ball State and was the first meeting between the teams since 1936.

On Wednesday two MAC schools will face off when the No. 15 Northern Illinois Huskies host the Ball State Cardinals.
Both Ball State (9-1, 6-0 MAC) and Northern Illinois (9-0, 5-0 MAC) will be looking to remain unbeaten in conference play. A win over Northern Illinois would go a long way to getting Ball State into the top 25 for the first time this season while Northern Illinois is...

And that leads to the question will it give Jordan Lynch a bump in the Heisman Trophy race.
In front of a national TV audience (well, ESPN2 so we use that term loosely) Lynch was his typical self throwing for two touchdowns and running for a pair as well.
"If Jordan isn’t in the conversation for the Heisman I don’t know what people are watching, they were obviously...
