No. 12 Michigan State expects to have most of its banged-up players in the lineup at Purdue on Saturday night. Keith Appling, Adreian Payne, Gary Harris and Branden Dawson are all expected to play for the Spartans. Appling was knocked out of Michigan State's win over No. 18 Minnesota on Wednesday night, leaving late in the game when his right shoulder popped in and out. Payne missed some of the second half with a bloody nose. Harris played through a back injury. Dawson was slowed by a sprained right ankle. Travis Trice went through shooting drills Thursday after being held out against the Golden Gophers because of a head injury. The Spartans hope to be at full strength Tuesday night at home against No. 3 Michigan.

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Subtract the backcourt tandem of Keith Appling and Gary Harris, and Michigan States basketball team would have difficulty beating anybody in the Big Ten outside of Nebraska and Penn State. With them, the Spartans are ranked 12th in the country and are just a half-game out of first place at 19-4 overall and 8-2 in the conference. In Wednesday nights 61-50...

Gophers brace for Top-20 showdown at MSU

Injuries are a concern for Michigan State, but having Gary Harris available may quell some worries. Even a healthy lineup, however, couldn't beat Minnesota in this season's Big Ten opener. The No. 12 Spartans hope Harris is healthy enough to play Wednesday night when they try to continue their home dominance of the 18th-ranked Golden Gophers. Michigan State (18-4, 7-2...

Spartan Jump Shots, Boilermaker Edition: Michigan State vs. Purdue Preview

Following two come from behind performances at home which has inexplicably left the Michigan State Spartans tied for first in the Big Ten standings, now, the team must hit the road again for a weekend trip to West Lafayette, Indiana. Such voyages are always a severe test for the visitors, and despite the Purdue Boilermakers’ pedestrian record, this year’s game should prove no...

Finally, the Gophers have a chance to play a bit of consequence-free basketball.

And now, for one night only, the Golden Gophers can play some consequence-free basketball against the Michigan State Spartans. Two wins last week gave the Gophers  a bit of breathing room. Losing five out of six games would have put the Gophers squarely on the bubble, or even the wrong side of the bubble, and Wednesday evening's game in East Lansing  would have been a true...

Michigan State vs. Minnesota Preview

2/6/2013 at 7PM on Big Ten Network Ah. Sweet revenge. That’s the payoff awaiting the Spartans if they can log this one into the win column. I thought Minnesota was overrated at the beginning of conference play, and maybe the Spartans did as well when they played them in the first game and came up empty. Of course, at the time MSU was even more turnover prone and less consistent...
