Baylor Highlights Sweet Sixteen Field

If you haven’t done so yet, take out your yellow highlighters and mark off Baylor to the Sweet 16. In fact, keep highlighting them as far as you would like and next time you write ‘Baylor’, make sure you do so in highlighter.

I’m sure all of you have seen, with pain at first, the uniforms the Baylor Bears have worn their first two games in the NCAA Tournament and in the Big 12 tournament as well, going 3-0 when they decide to highlight themselves before games.

This new style of Adidas uniforms, a fluorescent yellow for Baylor, is also being worn by Louisville and Cincinnati, the two teams that met last week in the Big East Championship and we are a Cincinnati win over Florida State tomorrow from having Adidas well represented in the Sweet 16.

Their ‘Bear’ stripes on their shorts represent their school name quite well and the neon glow of their socks and laces, on black Adidas shoes, work for me, and have sure seemed to work for Baylor.

Brady Heslip went 9 of 12 from 3-point range, good for 27 big ones and a spot in the Sweet 16 next Friday in Atlanta for the South Regional semifinal against Xavier or Lehigh. Heslip looked unconscious from behind the arc, just as you were when you turned the channel to watch some human highlighters run around.

The 6’2 redshirt sophomore and transfer from Boston College, hit six from deep in the first half to keep Baylor in the game, Heslip connected again with 6:56 left in the game that helped break the game open and was the start of a 19-3 Baylor run to secure a spot in the Sweet 16.

With those jerseys, how can anyone go cold? With just a No. 10 seed or No. 15 standing between them and the Elite 8, the dance is only getting brighter, for both Baylor and us.

Highlight of the tournament thus far? Look no further, giving your eyes five seconds to adjust, than the uniforms of the Baylor Bears.
