  1. Indiana The Indiana Hoosiers are still the #1 ranked team as of now.  They haven’t lost yet and will look to continue their success.  They blew away their early opponents because they weren’t very challenging competitors. However, Indiana almost slipped up last night, which would have ended their winning streak and bumped them out of the number one spot.  They almost loss to Georgetown last night in the brand new Barclays Center in Brooklyn, home of the Brooklyn Nets.  The Hoosier won in over time 82-72 after showing their dominance in the overtime period. 3. Ohio State The Ohio State Buckeyes remain undefeated and have not yet played anyone very challenging.  Their biggest test so far should have came in their first game against Marquette for the Carrier Classic, however, the game was cancelled due to bad weather.  Their next big test will be against the Duke Blue Devils on November 28. If they win this game, they should go undefeated at least until the end of December. 4. Michigan The Michigan Wolverines do not have that difficult of a non-conference schedule this season, so being ranked #4 in the nation they need to be dominating their opponents and so far they have done so. They are 3-0 as of now and are winning with ease. The Wolverines have defeated their opponents by thirty points or more in every game so far. Their first big test is against Pittsburgh tonight in the NIT championship.  It is highly unlikely that Michigan will win by thirty but they should win the game.  Pitt, however, has a history of upsetting highly ranked teams. 15. Michigan State Michigan state is the last ranked team in the Big Team and the first team in the Big Ten to lose this season.  They lost their first game against Connecticut who is now ranked #23 but after that they have not lost.  After the loss to Connecticut, they defeated the #7 ranked Kansas JayHawks, Texas, Southern, and Boise State.  Their next game is against Oakland University on Friday which should go Michigan State’s way. Minnesota Minnesota is undefeated in their non-conference play so far.  They haven’t played anyone challenging yet but have dominated the teams they have played.  They play the Duke Blue Devils tomorrow at 3:30 and it will be a lot closer than the experts think. I think the Minnesota Gophers are a good basketball team and could challenge the Blue Devils. Illinois The Illini have not lost either this season which could be surprising to some. They will play Butler tonight in the Maui Invitational Championship. A win for the Illini tonight may put them into the top 25 or at least make them a team on the rise.  It will be big for the Illini. Purdue The Boilermakers are off to the worst start of any Big Ten team as they have lost three out of their last four game, none of which are against ranked opponents.  Their only win is against Hofstra who they did beat handily.  They will definitely need to improve before they begin Big Ten play. The rest of the Big Ten The rest of the Big Ten has either not played anyone extremely challenging yet, or just haven’t done anything exciting enough to highlight.  The rest of the undefeated teams include Iowa, Nebraska, and Northwestern.  Penn State is 2-2- losing to #6 North Carolina State.  Finally, Wisconsin is 3-1 but lost badly to the #10 Florida Gators. College basketball has began and their has already been loads excitement.  The Big Ten Conference has definitely contributed to this excitement, and we should expect a lot more to come.
