It serves as the home of Western Kentucky University and Corvettes (all made here), while serving as the chief destination for Mammoth Cave National Park tourists when they get a hankering for Cracker Barrel or Olive Garden. So, when conversing about hoops in Kentucky, Bowling Green first conjures up the WKU Hilltoppers, and secondly the color purple (not Alice Walkers book, mind you, but the city high schools mascot is simply the Purples). Therefore, welcoming Ohios Bowling Green Falcons (orange and brown, huh?) to Bowling Green, Kentucky, created a bit of cognitive dissonance. They are not red and white. They are not purple. They do not make Corvettes. And, they probably order wheat toast instead of biscuits at Cracker Barrel. What to make of this other Bowling Green? Well, for starter...

Freshman winger Brent Darnell (Canton, Mich.) has been named the CCHA Rookie of the Week after a four-point performance in the Spartans' sweep of Bowling Green. Darnell had a goal and three assists (+3) for the Spartans as they swept the Falcons, assisting on Dean Chelios' game-winners each night.

Dean Chelios, Lee Reimer, and Greg Wolfe all finished with a goal and an assist as Michigan State completed a sweep of Bowling Green, 4-1, on Saturday at Munn Ice Arena. MSU improves to 10-5-1 on the season, and is now 6-4-0 in the CCHA.
