Fox Sports Detroit:
Michigan point guard Trey Burke has been suspended for the Wolverines' Nov. 1 exhibition opener against Northern Michigan, the team announced Wednesday.
In a press release, the team said that the sophomore point guard is being punished for an undisclosed violation of team rules.
"We have high standards and values for our student-athletes and we expect everyone to meet those expectations," said John Beilein. "Trey will sit out the first game as a result of some 'out of character' decisions he now regrets. We believe he has learned a valuable lesson and we are confident he will grow from this experience."
The suspension comes two days after Burke was one of six players named to the Associated Press All-America team. Last season, he led Michigan to the NCAA Tournament, averaging 14.8 points and 4.6 assists as a true freshman.

Michigan will make its debut appearance in the newly renovated Crisler Center tonight in an exhibition clash with Northern Michigan (7 p.m., BTN.com). Under Brady Hoke, Michigan is 15-0 when it scores more than 17 points. That’s all the defense needs to stand its ground and hold off its opponent. This weekend, however, Michigan came up well short and suffered its third loss of the season. All three have been away from the Big House.
