The University of Kentucky announced today the ‘Cats will play another game in the Barclays Center come next season. On December 1st, Kentucky will face off versus the Providence Friars. The meeting will be the first time the schools have faced each other since 1976. Last season, the ‘Cats and Maryland played the very first college basketball game in the arena. The ‘Cats won 72-69 behind a stunning performance from Jarrod Polson. The Friars finished 17-14 and 10th in the Big East last season. The only other game the Friars have faced the Wildcats was on March 18th, 1976 in the NIT tournament. The game was played in Madison Square Garden, and Kentucky won 79-78. Kentucky also announced the Friars will come to Rupp Arena in 2014.
