Kyle Vinales scored 27 points Thursday night as St. Francis (Pa.) beat Central Connecticut State 69-58 in a Northeast Conference game. The win ended a five-game losing streak for the Blue Devils (6-7, 3-0). Vinales scored 20 points in the first half, including four 3-pointers. But no teammate had more than four points and the Blue Devils trailed 33-32 at intermission. From then on, Vinales got plenty of help from Robby Ptacek, who scored 15 points, and Ken Horton's double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds). The Red Flash (3-11, 2-1) led by as many as seven points the second half. But Vinales, Ptacek and Horton helped Central Connecticut take a 13-point lead, 64-51. The Blue Devils coasted home. Scott Eatherton scored 24 points for St. Francis, 12 in each half. He grabbed 12 rebounds for a double-double. Teammate Anthony Ervin scored 11 points.
