Indiana showed why it's worthy of being the nation's top-ranked team, completely overwhelming a storied program its last time out.
That doesn't bode well for one-win Coppin State.
The Hoosiers will try to sustain the energy they displayed in their last game and avoid a letdown Saturday night when they host an Eagles team that hasn't defeated a ranked opponent in more than 14 years.
Tuesday's matchup of No. 14 North Carolina and Indiana (7-0) was expected to be a classic showdown between national powers. The Hoosiers never allowed it to live up to that billing, however, cruising to an 83-59 victory in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.
"It was a huge statement," forward Will Sheehey said. "We prepared for this game for a couple of weeks now. You saw the score, we played hard, we played well, we played together and when we do that, we play well."
Indiana's effort on defense has been questioned, but the team proved it doesn't always have to ...
BEST OF MAXIM
Morehead State coach Sean Woods received massive amounts of criticism for the way he berated one of his players last week. The school suspended him a game for his behavior, and he apologized for his actions, which he called “inappropriate and unacceptable” in a statement. Woods received support this week from an unlikely source — Indiana coach Tom Crean. “I think too many...
Beyond the relentless break this Indiana team throws at opponents, beyond the individual talent of their Starting Six, there’s this truth: These Hoosiers, they of the most efficient offense in the country, show a special ability to share the ball and make the extra (and sometimes extra-extra-extra) pass.
A deep look at a prime example of their unselfishness in the latest edition...
Victor Oladipo (14 points, six rebounds, six assists, three steals), Jeremy Hollowell (seven points) and Remy Abell (10 points, three assists) met with the media following Indiana’s 87-51 win over Coppin State on Saturday at Assembly Hall.

Thoughts on an 87-51 win over Coppin State:
I. The Georgia game had its share of ugliness, but this one — the first ten minutes, at least — wasn’t pretty. Indiana missed shots (a Will Sheehey airball, an 0-9 start) and turned the ball over (eight turnovers in the first 10:35). Coppin State’s 2-3 zone had the Hoosiers out of sorts in the halfcourt and the Eagles didn’t surrender...
Indiana senior Jordan Hulls, freshman Yogi Ferrell and assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Kenny Johnson met with the media Friday to preview Saturday’s game at Assembly Hall with Coppin State.

Indiana coach Tom Crean appeared on the new Jim Rome show on Showtime Wednesday evening. Here’s a recap of Rome’s interview with the coach of the 7-0, No. 1-ranked Hoosiers:
· Rome started by pointing out that the Hoosiers “smacked” North Carolina and noting that Will Sheehey called the win a huge statement. Crean was asked if that’s how he saw the win and also what message...
Indiana couldn’t buy a basket. The No. 1 Hoosiers didn’t look anything like the team that carefully demolished North Carolina on Tuesday night.
It wasn’t necessarily that the energy or effort was lacking, but the Hoosiers struggled to get anything going in what turned into a sloppy first half.
As soon as the second 20 minutes began, Victor Oladipo changed all that. The junior...
Victor Oladipo and Will Sheehey both scored 14 points to lead No. 1 Indiana to an 87-51 win over Coppin State on Saturday night.
The top-ranked Hoosiers (8-0) overcame poor shooting at the start of the game and pulled away from the Eagles (1-6). Indiana missed its first nine shots and didn't take the lead until Christian Watford's 3-pointer with 9:25 left in the first half...
