MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Jae Crowder had 21 points and seven rebounds, and No. 11 Marquette had little trouble with Wisconsin-Green Bay on Saturday night, beating the Phoenix 79-61. Marquette (9-0) won easily despite dressing just eight players due to injuries. Starting center Chris Otule (knee), and reserves Juan Anderson (shoulder) and Jamil Wilson (ankle) all watched in street clothes. It was another strong game for Crowder, who hit a 3-pointer with less than 7 seconds left to beat Washington 79-77 on Tuesday night. The 6-foot-8 senior made 7 of 12 shots, including 4 of 6 from 3-point range, and had three steals and two blocks. It was the second consecutive blowout loss for Green Bay (4-6), which was beaten by Wisconsin 70-42 on Wednesday night. The Phoenix couldn't contend with Marquette's defense, committing 25 turnovers that led to 34 points for the Golden Eagles. Sophomores Vander Blue and Davante Gardner each scored 14 points and had seven rebounds for Marquette. Fresh...

Anderson to join Otule on Marquette sidelines

MILWAUKEE - The No. 11 Marquette Golden Eagles got another dose of bad news Friday when it was announced that freshman Juan Anderson would miss three to four weeks with a shoulder injury. The 6-foot-6 forward suffered the injury Thursday during practice and underwent an MRI Friday morning. "Juan injured his shoulder yesterday in practice," head coach Buzz Williams said...

With 2 of the top 18 players in the country according to SI, do the numbers say Gardner and J. Wilson can get MU through until Otule returns?

If you’ve read Sports Illustrated the last few days, it’s easy to see why Marquette is ranked somewhere between 1st and 11th in virtually every computer rating and poll this season heading into tonight’s game with Green Bay.According to Luke Winn, Marquette has two of the top 18 players in the country so far this season in Darius Johnson-Odom and Jae Crowder, as well as a freshman...

Marquette has little trouble beating Green Bay

Why Jae Crowder is even better than you think

Jae Crowder defies a lot of conventions. He’s listed as a 6-6 forward, but he’s taken the second most 3s on Marquette. In one possession on defense you’ll see him hedging up top on the perimeter and then grabbing the defensive board down low. He’s a junior college recruit, but he’s beloved by his coach and one of two emotional rocks on a team that just had a heck of a...

Bulls sign rookie guard Jimmy Butler

While with the Marquette Golden Eagles, Butler (6-7, 220) played in 106 games (69 starts) and averaged 12.0 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.7 apg and 1.08 spg in 29.6 mpg.

Wis.-Green Bay-Marquette Preview

Marquette's prolific offense is aided by its depth, but that could be challenged following the loss of one of its starters. The 11th-ranked Golden Eagles will try to remain undefeated Saturday night when they host Wisconsin-Green Bay without starting center Chris Otule. Marquette is looking to improve to 9-0 for the first time since 2004-05. The Golden Eagles extended their...

Is Marquette Unlucky?

The Marquette Warriors enter finals week with a perfect 9-0 record, and despite the winning streak this break in the action was perfectly timed.  After losing starting center Chris Otule for an indefinite period of time due to a knee injury he sustained in the Washinton game, the Ghosts of Tom Crean Tackling Dummies re-emerged at The Al, sending Juan Anderson (3-4 weeks, shoulder...
