De'Mon Brooks scored 22 points, and Davidson opened the second half with a 20-6 spurt powered by Chris Czerapowicz's three 3-pointers to overwhelm Samford 71-51 in a Southern Conference game on Thursday night. Jake Cohen had 14 points and seven rebounds, Czerapowicz scored 11 and Nik Cochran 10 for the Wildcats (14-7, 9-1), who have won five in a row and lead the series against Samford 8-1. Brooks made 8 of 10 from the field, and Davidson shot 47.9 percent (23 of 48, 15 of 29 in the second half). Cochran, who leads the nation in free-throw percentage, made 4 of 4 and is 73 of 77 for the season. The Wildcats hit 20 of 23 from the line. Tim Williams and Tyler Poole scored 12 points apiece, and Raijon Kelly had 10 points and seven assists for Samford (7-14, 5-3), which had won four of its past five.
