While the celebration of the start of Duke Basketball’s 2013 season will take place this coming Friday, the season officially got underway this past Friday, with media day and a practice open to members of the media. GoDuke.com has a number of videos with interviews of Coach K, a number of players and a short video recap of the team’s first practice.
Items of note from Coach K’s press conference:
Marshall Plumlee did not participate in practice and is in a walking boot, using crutches to get around. He will likely miss some time.
Seth Curry also didn’t participate due to a leg injury. Coach K said Curry will be monitored over the next few weeks.
The Duke Basketball program is now fully endowed. The coaches, players’ scholarships and manager positions are paid for out of a fund instead of the school having to use their resources to take care of these financial obligations.
Countdown to Craziness was postponed until this coming Friday due to the students being on Fall Break this week.
As you get ready to watch the team practice live on camera for the first time this season at 1 PM on ESPNU and ESPN3, take a few moments to look back at the Blue Devils getting back to work this past weekend.
