PLAYERS: Fab Melo
TEAMS: Syracuse Orange
Fab Melo now has a chance to explain what happened at Syracuse. Melo was ruled academically ineligible for seven games last season, including the NCAA tournament, and now that he's making the rounds on the draft workout list, Melo is trying to answer NBA scouts. His explanation is simple: Until four years ago, the Brazilian didn't even speak English. Melo says team officials appear to be ''comfortable'' with his answers, and that he still expects to be drafted in the first round though not among the first 14 picks. Melo also says he watched the tourney games in Syracuse, N.Y., something that hurt to see. He was last year's Big East Defensive Player of the Year.

He was another “Air Up There,” a raw 7-footer from a different country who barely spoke English and carried whispers of “have you seen...

Cavaliers to bring in Sullinger, Melo for workouts

When Sullinger scheduled the workout with the Cavs, he was probably hoping the team might consider him with the fourth pick. That dream has sailed. Now, I’m sure he is hoping that he doesn’t fall to the Cavaliers at number twenty...

Change of Plans: Mark Garrick’s Knee Turns Him from Syracuse to Portland

But at least one of those bodies won’t be a part of the picture, as Garrick has now committed to Portland State. Garrick lost contact with the Orange staff, and his surgery to repair an ACL tear in his right knee caused him to...
