By Dale Yarborough ACC Bureau Reporter (9) Wichita State will take on (1) Louisville in the Final Four matchup. Each team is coming off of an impressive win against their Elite-8 opponents and neither team wants the journey to end here. Wichita State has defeated (8) Pittsburgh, (1) Gonzaga, (13) La Salle, and (2) Ohio State thus far, and hope to add (1) Louisville to the list after Saturday’s game. (1) Louisville, though, has put away (16) NC A&T, (8) Colorado St., (12) Oregon, and a fantastic (2) Duke team. Louisville is also running off of emotion from the injury Kevin Ware suffered in their last game, and will feed off of that during tonight's game. Carl Hall/nydailynews.com Wichita State has had steady play from seniors Carl Hall and Malcom Armstead, and great contributions from the play of freshmen Cleanthony Early. The Shockers have had been able to come away from games with a win due in partly to their uncanny ability to rebound, with nearly 38 a game, a...

Hard work has shaped Wichita State

It was the middle of winter in Wichita, and Gregg Marshall gathered his Wichita State team in the film room to show them what he called the "play of the year." At this point in the season, things were looking surprisingly good for a team that wasn't supposed to do too much. After losing their top five scorers from the season before, the Shockers had nine new faces...

Wichita State players 'Googled' its location

ATLANTA Don't leak this information to fiery head coach Gregg Marshall, but Wichita State is playing the de factor Cinderella at the Final Four in Atlanta, due in large part to the fact that not many people could find the school on a map prior to the Shockers' upsets over Gonzaga and Ohio State. Not even Wichita State's own players. In a loose press conference Friday...

Wichita State’s Cleanthony Early throws down huge dunk over Louisville

An early portion of the Final Four game between Wichita State and Louisville was an issue for the Cards. First, an airball, then, nothing but dunk city.

Wichita State’s Out Of The Tournament, But Cleanthony Early’s Here To Stay

Hurricane Irene turns out to be WSU blessing

ATLANTA (AP) As Hurricane Irene churned along the East Coast, flight after flight was getting canceled, and Cleanthony Early remembers thinking to himself, "I'm stuck in Kansas." The talented forward from upstate New York was on a recruiting visit to Wichita State, which he barely knew existed before the trip. The first two days had gone well, though, and he was starting...

No. 2 Louisville 72, Wichita St. 68

Gregg Marshall called Saturday night's game against Louisville the most important he'd ever coached, and quite possibly the most important game Wichita State had ever played. If not for the final 10 minutes, there would have been a more important one Monday night. The plucky underdogs from the Missouri Valley Conference watched a 12-point lead slip away, and the mighty...

Wichita State runs out of Shockers

Wichita State did everything right for nearly 30 minutes, building a second-half lead and putting itself in position to become the lowest-seeded team ever to play for a national title. Over the final 10 minutes, mighty Louisville started to play like Louisville, and the ninth-seeded Shockers' feel-good story started to slowly slip away. After going more than 25 minutes without...

Varying paths have made Shockers a Final Four team

More than 30 years ago, Cliff Levingston was part of a team at Wichita State loaded with future NBA talent that he believes underachieved, falling just short of the Final Four. This year, he's been watching a motley group do just the opposite: Without a bona fide star, the Shockers are close to playing for a national championship. There's Carl Hall, a rugged forward from...
