The Cardinal Connect:
Rick Pitino has landed his third commitment from the 2014 class. JaQuan Lyle, a five-star guard from Evansville, IN., sent Rick Pitino a text message on Wednesday afternoon informing him that he was going to be a Cardinal. Lyle has been one of Louisville’s top targets in the 2014 class for nearly two years. He chose the Cardinals over Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, UCLA and Tennessee. Lyle is rated as the 12th best player in the 2014 class, which makes him the highest rated recruit for Pitino since Samardo Samuels in 2008. Lyle joins point guard Quintin Snider and combo guard Shaqquan Aaron in Louisville’s 2014 class. Louisville’s 2014 class was already considered to be one of the top ten classes in the country, but you can expect a big jump when the next rankings are published. I wouldn’t be surprised if they landed in the top three. The backcourt appears to be set for Louisville in 2014, now all the staff needs to do is add a big man.

Cliff Alexander, a 6-foot-9, 230-pound, center from Chicago, IL., recently trimmed his list to ten. Rick Pitino and the Louisville Cardinals are one of the ten teams that the Windy City native says he is currently considering.
Kansas, Arizona, Baylor, DePaul, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis and Michigan State are the other nine schools that Alexander is listing.
With JaQuan Lyle committing to Louisville yesterday, Rick Pitino’s backcourt is pretty much set for the near future. In 2014, Louisville will have Wayne Blackshear, Kevin Ware, Chris Jones, Terry Rozier, Anton Gill, Quintin Snider, Shaqquan Aaron and JaQuan Lyle. That is some scary depth in the backcourt.
With three current commitments from the 2014 class, I think you can expect...

Fortunately, I never saw the bone sticking out of Kevin Ware’s leg. Hopefully never will, unless it’s accidental while viewing replays of the University of Louisville basketball team’s NCAA win over Duke. If that does happen, there will probably be one more grown man crying.
Watching his steady improvement, his desire to get back to the skill level before the injury, will be...
Despite losing his father to cancer earlier this week, Louisville forward Luke Hancock has decided to still follow through with the tryout process for the U.S. Team in the World University Games. Hancock was informed by his mother of the terrible news in a Dallas airport on Monday morning before boarding a plane to Colorado Springs for the US team tryouts.

You know spirits are high in a college football program when the players are openly mocking their head coach and getting away with it. Louisville junior lineman John Miller, with quarterback Teddy Bridgewater’s obvious approval in the background, was caught mocking head coach Charlie Strong in a Vine video the school released Wednesday afternoon.
It’s pretty funny – check it...
It’s NBA Draft Day and two of the most beloved former University of Louisville basketball players are expecting to hear their names called in New York. Gorgui Dieng is expected to be a first round pick, while Peyton Siva expects to be drafted in the second round on Thursday night.
Pete Roussel, a former college football coach who now owns and operates CoachingSearch.com, doesn’t think much of this year’s Louisville football team. Mr. Roussel appears to be of the opinion that Charlie Strong’s team may be underrated. Roussel published his big upset picks for the 2013 season and has Louisville getting upset not once, but twice. Below is an excerpt.
