Let’s see a show of hands: who had Florida Gulf Coast winning two games in the 2013 NCAA tournament? We don’t believe you. There’s no way anyone could have predicted any 15-seed would make it to the Sweet 16, much less a school making its first trip to the NCAA tournament. Florida Gulf Coast beat seventh-seeded San Diego State, 81-71, on Sunday, giving the Fort Myers, Fla. school its second huge upset at the NCAA tournament in three days. Neither Sunday’s win nor Friday’s defeat of Georgetown were close games; the Eagles have dominated the opposition with defense and lob dunks. Next up, Florida Gulf Coast takes on Florida in Texas on Friday for a spot in the Elite Eight. When Friday’s game against Georgetown ended, Florida Gulf Coast guard Sherwood Brown went right over to dance with the Florida Gulf Coast cheerleaders. Brown is a smart man. FGCU architect Balza laid base for success

Dave Balza would like to dispel two statements. Both are correct in terms of the letter of the law. But both are still a bit off, both taken a smidge out of context. You'll have heard the first if you've watched even a few minutes of March Madness this year, especially if those minutes have been of the frenetic, underdog, blue and green variety. In fact, if you've...
