GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Florida wants to finish its postponed season opener against Georgetown. Coach Billy Donovan said Tuesday night that the No. 7 Gators have reached out to the Hoyas about completing the game in nearby Jacksonville. "Our school has reached out to Georgetown about completing and finishing the game," Donovan said. "There are some dates and some possibilities of that happening. I think our school's waiting to hear back from Georgetown about the possibility of that happening. Our school's in favor of making that happen." The teams played a half aboard the USS Bataan, an active amphibious assault ship stationed in Virginia that temporarily docked at Mayport Naval Station. Reports From Florida Gators Scout Day

I recently attended scout day for the University of Florida and while the Gators still have a lot of talent on campus, they lost some major talent in the 2012 draft. Between departing upperclassmen and recruits that signed out of high school, the Gators lost 11 players in the top three rounds of the draft (Michael Zunino, Lance McCullers, Lewis Brinson, Brian Johnson, Nolan Fontana...

Defense does it again

Billy Donovan noticed it early in practice. His team would be able to play elite defense is they committed to it and bought into his vision for the group. It didn’t take long for that to happen. The Gators moved to 4-0 this season on Tuesday night with a 58-40 win over Savannah State as the defense did it again. The strength of the Florida team hasn’t taken long to hit its stride.

No. 6 Florida will have quarterback Jeff Driskel back against rival and 10th-ranked Florida State. Driskel sat out Saturday's 23-0 win over Jacksonville State because of a sprained right ankle. The Gators allowed 95 total yards to Florida State last year with just 30 of those coming on the ground. However, they still lost. The defensive performance was dominant, as the Seminoles returned an interception for a touchdown and started two drives inside the Florida 20-yard line because of other interceptions. The Florida defense is hoping to replicate its strong performance on Saturday.
