Wake Forest's six-player recruiting class that signed this week is expected to fill a lot of needs.

And those needs will all be on full display tonight when the Deacons open Jeff Bzdelik's second season as head coach against Loyola of Maryland.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Joel Coliseum.

"It's always a great time of year,'' Bzdelik said. "Our players have worked extremely hard. We know we have to rely on one another in a collective way, play our hearts out and defend and rebound and limit our turnovers to put us in position to have a chance to win.

"That will be the mantra all year long.''

Wake Forest Handles Loyola, 75-63

So this season is already better than last.  Wake Forest handled Loyola in their home opener tonight.  It wasn't exactly pretty, and there were moments there (I was in attendance, mind you) where I feared we'd have a repeat of Stetson, but after Loyola tied the game at 48 in the second half, Wake Forest buckled down and held them scoreless for 4 minutes and pulled...

Clemson clinches ACC Atlantic with win over Wake Forest

For the second time this season, Clemson came from at least two possessions down to pull out a late victory.
