Missouri hopes it learned enough of a lesson from its last contest to be able to win without its leading scorer. With Laurence Bowers out at least one more game, the No. 17 Tigers look to bounce back from their first SEC loss and keep visiting Georgia winless in the league Wednesday night. Missouri (12-3, 1-1) looked lost without Bowers, averaging 16.8 points per game, in a 64-49 defeat at Mississippi on Saturday. With the senior forward just watching due to a sprained MCL suffered in an 84-68 win over Alabama last Tuesday, the Tigers shot 36.8 percent and posted a point total 29.9 below their season average. "It's part of the game and we aren't going to make excuses, but it is difficult (without Bowers)," said coach Frank Haith, whose Missouri teams are 7-0 in games immediately following losses. Though the Tigers hope to have Bowers back for Saturday's showdown at No. 10 Florida, they first must find a way to play better with him on the bench Wednesday. Ja...

Anyone needing a reminder of Laurence Bowers' impact on the Missouri Tigers offense received a rude and unwanted refresher Saturday in a 64-49 loss at Ole Miss. With Bowers on the bench after spraining the MCL in his right knee last week vs. Alabama, the Tigers' offense was downright awful. Mizzou committed 19 turnovers, shot just 37 percent from the field and went just...

No. 17 Missouri whips struggling Georgia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri's second game without Laurence Bowers went a lot better than the first. Alex Oriakhi had 13 points on 5-for-5 shooting, eight rebounds and four blocks without the 6-foot-9 Bowers as an inside complement to help the 17th-ranked Tigers rebound from their biggest loss of the season with a 79-62 victory over Georgia on Wednesday night. "I knew...

Missouri basketball: Stefan Jankovic needs to play minutes for Tigers

The Missouri Tigers basketball team has suffered a pair of brutal losses over the past week. First, Mizzou lost senior forward and leading scorer Laurence Bowers to a knee injury. Then, Mizzou was embarrassed by Ole Miss on the road. Neither has been a positive experience for head coach Frank Haith. But Haith could turn the situation into a positive if he gives freshman forward...
