CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) -- Joe Harris scored a career-high 36 points and Virginia celebrated the 11-year anniversary of its last victory over a top 5 team by doing it again, beating No. 3 Duke 73-68 on Thursday night.
Akil Mitchell added 19 points and 12 rebounds as he and Harris outplayed Duke's top twosome of Seth Curry and Mason Plumlee, giving Virginia (20-8, 10-5 Atlantic Coast Conference) its 16th consecutive victory at home. It came 11 years to the day since an 87-84 victory, also against No. 3 Duke.
Curry led Duke with 28 points, all but five coming after halftime, and Quinn Cook had 22, but the Blue Devils (24-4, 11-4) failed to slow down either Harris or Mitchell, whose dominating play kept a sellout crowd giddy all night. Plumlee finished with 10 points, seven rebounds and three turnovers and several times looked up to see Mitchell dunking over him.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA -- Seth Curry and Mason Plumlee sat just a few feet apart in Dukes locker room late Thursday night physically drained but not confused about what had transpired over the previous two hours.
The third-ranked Blue Devils lost 73-68 to Virginia at John Paul Jones Arena in a game that was more lopsided than the final score suggests.

Steph Curry posted one of the best individual games in the NBA this season. The Warriors guard had an NBA season-high 54 points at Madison Square Garden Wednesday in a 109-105 loss to the New York Knicks.
Curry went 18-28 (64.3%), 11-13 (84.6%) on threes, and 7-7 at the free throw line to give him his career-high game. His 11 threes were a franchise record and one behind the NBA...
Another night, another court-storming. This time, unranked UVA knocked off No. 3 Duke at home, 73-68. While the Wahoos were favored according to Vegas, the fans at the stadium used the “upset” as an opportunity to party at mid-court anyway.
Joe Harris had 36 points and seven rebounds, shooting 12-of-20 for the Cavaliers, who may be officially off the bubble. Akil Mitchell chipped...
Duke's rematch with fifth-ranked Miami on Saturday was already a big game, one that was supposed to give the third-ranked Blue Devils the chance to avenge an ugly loss and close the gap in the Atlantic Coast Conference race.
It's even bigger now for a team that needs to regain some swagger after a tough three-week stretch that has seen the ACC regular-season title all but...
Prime time, man. Prime time. On the eve of March - college basketball's holy month - the big fish comes to town. It's such a big game that I polished off a scotch before writing this post, the better to make it a good one. Scotch brings out the wordsmith in me. UVA's postseason aspirations don't exactly hinge on Thursday's showdown with Duke...
