MINNEAPOLIS During Wednesday's loss to Nebraska, the Minnesota men's basketball team didn't get any scoring from senior Rodney Williams, junior Austin Hollins or sophomore Joe Coleman. The trio, normally among the Gophers' leaders on offense, was a combined 0-for-9 from the floor as Minnesota fell 53-51 on the road to the Cornhuskers.Hollins' scoreless night continued a concerning trend for the 6-foot-4 forward.Including his game against Nebraska in which he was 0-for-5 from the field, Hollins has now hit just five of 28 in over his last four games. During that stretch, he's 0-for-14 from 3-point range. Hollins has proven earlier this year that he can be a dangerous shooter, but that shooting touch has suddenly escaped him."Austin hasn't shot the ball well for about 10 games. When he's not playing well, we're going to have a tough time," Gophers coach Tubby Smith said Friday, one day before the Gophers prepared to take on Purdue in thei...
BEST OF MAXIM
The Golden Gophers, as you probably know, dropped another winnable game to a bad Nebraska team. In what is now an annual tradition, another Minnesota sports team is failing when it matters most. It has become a right of passage for Minnesota fans to get their hopes up only to be let down. The eventual [...]
The second-ranked University of Minnesota hockey team went into the weekend needing to make up two points on St. Cloud State to tie for the WCHA regular-season title, and the Gophers got both of them Saturday night with a 5-1 win at Bemidji State.
St. Cloud State lost, 3-2, at Wisconsin, and North Dakota -- which could have created a three-way tie with a victory -- fell, 2-1, at...

Rachel Banham had 20 points, including four 3-pointers, for the...
I suppose all you are shocked that all three finalists came from the University of Minnesota. This appears to be more political than the Hobey Baker Memorial Award voting.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Senior defenseman Megan Bozek (Buffalo Grove, Ill.), junior forward Amanda Kessel (Madison, Wis.) and senior goaltender Noora Räty (Espoo, Finland), all of the University of Minnesota...
Tubby Smith is a legendary coach, a good recruiter, and a decent person.
But his time in Minnesota should come to an end.

The results simply prove this.
The Gophers had very high expectations this season. On New Year’s Day, they were ranked eighth nationally, then abruptly dropped four straight. There was also a stretch during early February...

Bemidji Minnesota—Last night, the Bemidji State Beavers came out of the gate and were a tough team to play against. The Beavers got in the shooting lanes and took away the Gophers time and space and made skating through the neutral zone difficult.
Last night I said, the Beavers were giving another...

Bemidji, Minnesota – This weekend, is the last time the Gophers will ever play the Bemidji State Beavers as members of the WCHA, ever.
Two summers ago, the college hockey landscape changed forever. That discussion, however, is for another day.
Next season, the Gophers will come back to play the Beavers...
