The Indiana Hoosiers Tom Crean proved me wrong today. I didn’t think people actually cared about player of the week awards, mostly because any time I’ve written or posted about them it’s equaled web traffic/social media death. But IU coach Tom Crean sure does. He was quite unhappy about the selection process, and he let the Big Ten office know it during the conference call today. But before we get to Crean’s inflammatory exchange with Big Ten call moderator and assistant director of communications Dan Mihalik, a little history. The Michigan Wolverines Trey Burke was player of the week, Burke averaged 23.5 points, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals in a loss to MSU and a win over Penn State. He shot nearly 60%. However, that loss to Michigan State was a doozy. UM got absolutely destroyed by about 30 points, and it could have been worse. Anyways, here’s the rant: (transcription courtesy of Detroit Free Press) Crean: “Dan, I have a question for you. Can you give me the criteria, so I can unde...

Burke and Harris earn Big Ten weekly honors

Trey Burke didn't have the best start to his week, but apparently, his strong finish was enough to satisfy voters at Big Ten headquarters. Despite taking part in Michigan's humiliating loss Tuesday to Michigan State, Burke's 29 points, five assists and zero turnovers on Sunday against winless Penn State were enough to get him his third Big Ten Player of the Week award...

Oladipo leads No. 1 Indiana past No. 4 MSU

EAST LANSING, Mich. On two legs, Victor Oladipo might be the best player in college basketball. As it turns out, the Indiana junior guard isn't bad on one leg, either. Playing on a sprained ankle, Oladipo capped a big game by scoring six points in the final 45 seconds, allowing top-ranked Indiana to escape with its first win at Michigan State in 22 years, 72-68 on Tuesday...

Burke, GRIII lead U-M over PSU, 79-71

Five Key Plays: Penn State at Michigan

1) Trey Burke keeps Michigan afloat in the first half There were many words to describe Michigan’s scoring output in the first half: meager, anemic and tepid all work. However, without Trey Burke, it would have been nearly non-existent. Burke was the only Michigan player who was able to get anything going on offense in the first half, scoring 10 of his team’s first 14 points...
