Houston remains No. 1; Kansas falls out of top 10
Raymond Carlin III-USA TODAY Sports

Houston remained No. 1 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll released Monday while Kansas dropped out of the top 10 for the first time in three seasons.

Houston (26-3) earned 52 first-place votes on the heels of a nail-biting 87-85 win at Oklahoma on Saturday. UConn (26-3) moved up a spot into No. 2, earning six first-place votes. Purdue (26-3) dropped to No. 3 and got four first-place votes.

Tennessee (23-6) and Arizona (23-6) round out the top five.

The Jayhawks (21-8) dropped seven spots -- the week's biggest drop -- to No. 14 after losing to BYU at home and at No. 15 Baylor last week. It's the Jayhawks' worst ranking since being at No. 15 midway through the 2020-21 season.

No. 6 Iowa State (23-6), North Carolina (23-6), Marquette (22-7), Duke (23-6) and Creighton (22-8) complete the top 10.

No. 11 Baylor and No. 19 Gonzaga had the biggest jumps this week, each moving up four spots.

BYU moved back into the poll, at No. 20. The Cougars supplanted Florida.
