It may be Valentine’s Day, but love wasn’t in the air Wednesday night for Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim and ESPN reporter Andy Katz.
Following Syracuse’s tough loss to UConn on Wednesday night, Katz asked a seemingly harmless question about the rivalry between the two teams coming to a close. But Boeheim refused to answer his questions, calling the reporter “really disloyal” and an “idiot.”
“There’s a few other things I could add, but I’m not gonna go there,” Boeheim added.
Well, he went there. Check out the outburst below at the 1:25 mark.

Jim Boeheim is cranky, and he directed it at Andy Katz. His squad was upset by an unranked rival. He’s missing an important big man in Dajuan Coleman. The storied Big East rivalry between Syracuse – Connecticut came to an end last night with the Huskies upsetting No. 7 Syracuse 66-58. Because Syracuse is in their last season with the Big East, these two teams will no longer face each other during the regular season.
In Jim Boeheim’s post-game press conference he was rather salty to say the least. Not just because of the loss...
Last night, after losing to Connecticut, SU basketball coach Jim Boeheim offered one of the mournful, moping moments in an illustrious career of post-game meltdowns. He attacked an ESPN reporter for not being "loyal," whatever that means, and then just sounded like a sad old galump, beaten not only by U-Conn, but by the changes in college basketball that ended, for now...

In the post-game interview, Boeheim took at a shot at ESPN journalist Andy Katz after he asked him about the UConn-Syracuse rivalry (which will no longer happen since Syracuse is going to the ACC).
It’s still unclear what exactly Boeheim was upset about Katz about, but...
With three weeks to play in the regular season, it’s time to hand out the Syracuse basketball team’s mid-semester grades. The Orange has played itself to a top 4 seed, but has been wildly inconsistent over the past month. Here’s the Dean’s List for SU, and those who need some extra help.
