Found December 26, 2013 on The Cardinal Connect:
CoachCal.com Everything I’ve gathered about sports media tells me that people love hypothetical predictions.  ESPN employs dozens of people to give their version of “what-if”.  More than a few hypothetical’s are thrown around daily at Cardinal Connect headquarters.  One arguable notion that is relevant this time of year is a very fair question to ask.  Could John Calipari’s job be in danger if Kentucky does not turn it around soon? Last year when Kentucky exited the NIT in the first round to Robert Morris #BBN was disgruntled yet optimistic.  Cal had the masses brainwashed into thinking that a bunch of high school kids would come in and restore Kentucky to the mountaintop in college basketball.  Shortly after the season began 40-0 quickly became a punch line rather than a realistic expectation. How long can #BBN buy into these hollow promises that are being made?  Tubby Smith was run for simply not going to the Final Four enough because of a perceived “boring style of play.”  Cal ha...

Calipari on Louisville: "It's only a big game if we win"

Most would argue that regardless of the outcome, Saturday’s Kentucky vs. Louisville tilt is about as important of a matchup as we’re going to see during college basketball’s regular season. But Wildcats coach John Calipari disagrees – he thinks it’s only a “big game” if UK prevails.  Calipari: “It’s only a big game if we win.” #BBN #UofL — Steve Andress (...

Forgrave: Calipari more than CEO of Kentucky's 1-and-done NBA factory

No coach in college basketball is as polarizing as Kentucky's John Calipari. In Lexington he's nearly a deity. He restored Kentucky basketball to the top of the college game after half a decade in the wilderness. But outside of Lexington? He's any number of slurs, many of which might be unfair: He's a job-hopping mercenary (despite the fact he spent eight years...

Don’t Forget About Kentucky’s Youth & Immaturity

Andy Lyons/Getty Images North America For better or worse John Calipari has made his bones off 18 year old kids.  Last year was the first year the Kentucky basketball team featured mostly freshman in key roles.  Everyone but #BBN remembers how last year’s basketball/dodge-ball season ended for the Wildkittens. I have watched my fair share of Kentucky basketball this season and...

Louisville vs. Kentucky: Will The Empire Strike Back?

I’m a self-proclaimed lover of “narrative.” (It’s on my Twitter Bio.) So before the big Battle for the Bluegrass I’ll be breaking down a few narratives surrounding this year’s rivalry battle. At the end of Star Wars: Episode Four, the Galactic Empire was reeling. For the first time in their reign they had been successfully challenged, and now had a remarkable adversary...

The Louisville-Kentucky matchup will still have the Bluegrass State at a fever pitch, but Big Blue Nation and Cardinals fans may be holding back...
