On Monday, long-time Tennessee center Uros Plavsic announced he would not return to Tennessee for another season. He spent four seasons in a Volunteer uniform and finished his career playing in 101 total games.

With him gone and Olivier Nkamhoua seeking other playing destinations in the transfer portal, the Vols will get a fresher look at who gets the majority of minutes in the post. This may be Jonas Aidoo's time to shine in Knoxville. With two years already under his belt, Aidoo may be to become the starting center for Tennessee in his junior season. He saw a spike in his minutes from freshman to sophomore year. This past season, he averaged 18.3 minutes a game compared to 7.3 the year before. He also played in 16 more games this past season compared to his freshman campaign.

Aidoo has a similar size and length that can replace Plavsic. For the lack of minutes he gets, he is an efficient rebounder. Last season, the 6-foot-11-inch big man from Durham grabbed an average of 5 rebounds a game last season. Keep in mind that was while playing less than a full half of basketball. Aidoo is also great in the low post on defense. He averaged over a block a game this past season, which shows how disruptive he can be with more time. He also is efficient near the basket on offense, as he shot 50.3% from the field in his sophomore campaign. Aidoo really can get great looks when he wants to go up against anybody. The Volunteers have a successor to Plavsic that has a similar style of play to him. He also has not yet gotten a lump sum of minutes to show the college basketball world what he really is all about.
