Alabama played its style of game Friday against Creighton. The Crimson Tide just didn't finish it.
After missing two crucial free throws with 8.7 seconds left, Creighton guard Josh Jones blocked Trevor Releford's 3-point attempt as the clock expired to give the Bluejays a 58-57 victory in the NCAA tournament.
Releford thought he got fouled on the shot.
''I felt like I got hit, but at the end of the day it's the ref's call,'' he said. ''And you've just got to live with it.''
Crimson Tide coach Anthony Grant said he felt bad for his team after the game, particularly lone senior JaMychal Green.
''It's obviously a difficult loss for us,'' Grant said. ''I'm really, really proud of the effort our guys gave us tonight and over the course of the year. I think this was a basketball team that grew over the course of the season and it was really, really important for this team I think in our maturation to get to the NCAA tournament and to try to have some success. Today wasn't our day.''
