Jordan Price (Photo Credit: Albert Cesare/Opelika Auburn New) La Salle has recently announced that sophomore Jordan Price is going to join the Explorers. Price will be transferring from Auburn University where he played for one season. According to Coach Dr. John Giannini, “Jordan is high in character and talent and comes from a great family.” While at Auburn Price tied an SEC record by making 11 3-pointers during non conference play and averaged 5.4 points per game. Hopefully the six foot five player will remain healthy as a stress fracture in his foot caused him to miss three weeks of the season in December. Before entering college the Georgia native was named Class 4A first-team All-State for Southwest Dekalb High under Coach Dwayne McKinney.  He also attended the NBA camp for college prospects in 2011 and was one of the camp’s top scorers. Giannini is excited about the talent Price has.  “We are committed to pushing Jordan to reach his full potential as an all-around player and he is eager to accept this challenge.” Although La Salle just made this announcement reports of Price transferring were made public around the end of June. Price had announced he was leaving Auburn in April, but it wasn’t until a tweet by Garrett Tucker of Future150.com that 20th and Olney would become his new home. The reason it was not announced by the school for so long is mainly due to Price’s paperwork not being finalized. Price will not be the only transfer Explorers men basketball will have this season.   He joins Cleon Roberts who is leaving Georgia Southern for the opportunity to be an Explorer. In the past transfers have played a major role in the building of the La Salle program; Earl Pettis, Ramon Galloway, Tyrone Garland and Khalid Lewis have all transferred under Giannini. The impact Price will have on the team will have to wait a year as NCAA rules won’t allow him to hit the court during game time until the 2014-2015 season.  After sitting out a year he will have three years of eligibility left to continue to add some noise to the Explorer program.
